Australian Fashion Designer

Which Australian city is better for shopping? Sydney or Melbourne?
I have heard Melbourne is the fashion capital of Australia but I am closer to Sydney. I have never been to any of these cities. Are any of them like London Paris or New York in terms of shopping?
Does anyone live in either of these cities? or have you visited them?
Which one do you think offers a better shopping experience?
Are these the best options? or does anyone prefer Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, The Gold Coast, Darwin etc…?
Also…What are the best shops for women’s fashion? and what are some of the best Australian labels/Designers/Brands?
Any recommendations would be good thanks!

Neither city is like London, Paris or New York in terms of shopping – they’re smaller and less cosmopolitan than those three. Melbourne’s shopping is indisputably the best in Australia. The Gold Coast has a lot of boutiques and is the only one of the others you’ve named that has anything to offer (but Melbourne is better).
David Jones in both Melbourne and Sydney has a good selection of designer clothes, but overall, you’ll be better off looking in smaller boutiques. Melbourne’s Collins Street and arcades are very good and you will probably spend many happy hours there if you’re a designer shopaholic with plenty of money.
